Summer International Outreach
Summer Outreach teams involve a four-week
commitment, which will include eight days of discipleship, training,
team building, and preparation. Teams then travel to various mission
fields for almost 3 weeks of ministry including conducting children’s
Bible clubs
and
other types of outreach ministry through national churches and established
ministries throughout the world.
Teams consist of individuals (14 or
older) from all
over North America, youth and adult leaders, or youth leaders who would
like to bring and lead a small group of their own youth. Participants,
upon returning from these trips, have shared that while they felt they
had touched the lives of the people to whom they went, their own lives
were more deeply impacted by their experiences. Priority 1 has observed
that when team members return home, they have been a greater asset to
their church, especially their youth group. Priority 1 feels the Lord
uses these teams to make an eternal difference around the world, while
raising up this generation for career ministry and mission service to
help fulfill God’s call to global evangelization.
What Team Members have said:
· “God taught me a lot about myself. My eyes were really opened to a lot of nicks and scratches that needed to be fixed up. I learned that I have some priorities that are out of line and that I need to give every single situation over to God.”
· “There are only missionaries and people who need to hear. If you know Jesus you need to tell others about Him.”
· “I complained about no hot water [at the campground] because the kids used it up – [I] realized that these kids didn’t even have running water [and I] felt very selfish and ungrateful.”
· [The most significant lesson God taught me was] “just how to have faith, and most importantly, the power of prayer; how much prayer really does make a difference and how necessary it is.”
